Day 12 – Gamification
Welcome to last day of the #12DoAI. We really hope you’ve enjoyed the last 12 days and have learned a few things to take with you into your work and studies! On this last day we are going to play with AI Games for a bit of fun.
What are the games?
Quick Draw
Made by Google and is a game built with machine learning. You draw, and a neural network tries to guess what you’re drawing. It doesn’t always work. But the more you play with it, the more the network will learn.
Check out Google’s privacy policy to learn more about how they use what you share in Quick Draw.
Real or Fake Text
This game was made by researchers at University of Pennsylvania. It asks you how good you are at knowing when text has been written by a human or a computer – a good skill to develop!
Which face is real?
You have a choice of two images, one of which is real and the other of which is a fake generated by StyleGAN. This game has been developed by Jevin West and Carl Bergstrom at the University of Washington as part of the Calling Bullshit project.

Everything has felt like I was playing, when exploring these AI tools. So much fun and I had to kept reminding myself it is my job to be exploring these tools no matter how much fun I’m having.
Playing Quick Draw with my son…spot on…definitely fun!
I can see these could be fun but I am not sure how I would use them in teaching and learning context
We have been using Quick Draw for some time with our students, which we follow up with the related Autodraw. This introduction to machine learning is followed by spending some time with the amazing Teachable Machine. These Google tools are all excellent, though they don’t have many gamification features.
